G1 Disappointing pony mail

I generally buy ponies from Ebay or locally, but I've recently purchased a bunch of ponies through one of the Facebook groups. It was a great way to get a bunch of specific ponies I needed. I received a package from a lovely seller who was selling her whole collection. She sent pictures of the ponies and I purchased about 15 from her. When they arrived I was surprised to learn that the Dance n Prance ponies don't dance and their knobs are broken. Trickles body was rock hard and it seems her plastisizer has gone off. Lady Flutter had regrind all over and it was not at all visible in the photos she sent (hair was covering). Moondust can't stand on her own, but I should be able to fix her.

Anyway, I've messaged the seller to tell of my disappointment. I feel she should have mentioned the Dance n Prances were broken and the regrind on Lady Flutter (also damaged wing), as she is basically bait condition. I'm frustrated because I will now need to buy upgrades on four of the ponies I received. The other ponies were in fine condition and mostly just needed grooming. I don't think this seller was intentionally deceitful. I know she is selling a lot of ponies and it's difficult when you have so much going on, but these are major, unfixable flaws that I wouldn't have known about from the photos and I think she should have said something. I know there are varying degrees to which sellers will disclose about flaws. I'm not a super picky collector, but I won't ever knowingly buy ponies with cancer, regrind or broken and not repairable.

Speaking of broken, have any of you ever tried to fix a broken Dance n Prance? If there is a way, I would definitely give it a go to fix these girls. Their hair and bodies are fine, just the mechanism is broken.

That is disappointing! I've been disappointed by lots but I'm sure those sellers didn't know anything about the ponies to begin with. I wish I could help you with the Dance n Prance ponies but I have no idea.

Yikes! Sounds like I may of dodged a bullet. D:
My general consensus of the seller your talking about was that she bought the lot purely to profit, she didn’t know anything about any of the ponies really.

So I did question her true knowledge of what a pony in good condition is. Sucks though because some of her prices weren’t the greatest. I hope she gave you a deal!!

@Skybreeze it wasn't the seller we had been talking about before, but you still may know who I was speaking about. That other seller was supposed to get a quote from the post office, but I never heard back from her. I wouldn't have bought from her anyway. Way too flaky.

I messaged this seller and told her of my disappointment. I'm not really happy with her response. She basically claimed ignorance and said she didn't know what the Dance N Prance were supposed to do. Didn't comment on the regrind or other issues. She should have offered a partial refund for the condition they were in. I wouldn't say she really gave me a deal, but because the prices were in Canadian dollars they were reasonable. Actually, she sold me a pretty minty (after cleaning) Princess Taffeta for $40 CAN, which is decent. Also, Moondust in decent condition for $20 CAN. It's just unfortunate that I'll have to replace the Dance N Prances. I guess some people wouldn't care if they don't dance, but that's the biggest appeal for me, as I'm a swing dancer ;)

It’s the one who got the HUGE lot, then posted a bunch of merch on top of the ponies? No?

That is upsetting I am sorry. I first learned of pony cancer/regrind when I bought a party time g1 where her hair covered it in the photo and I was very sad.

What a bummer. No ones likes being sold a lot of broken ponies thinking they're in good shape. Since the seller seems to be unwilling to help, have you thought of asking Paypal (if that's how you paid) to step in?

If it’s the same seller I’m thinking of she wanted etransfers. That was when I backed out of buying from her, my alarms went nuts in my gut. :/

I'm sorry to hear that @Cactusflower . :( I've had some bad experiences buying off of facebook, too, some good, but some bad. Now I always make sure I buy from someone that can be recommended by someone I know well enough to trust.

Foo - Skybreeze is right, she did want only etransfers, but I actually got her to do Paypal through her friend's account. I don't know if I would have any recourse through Paypal, because the issue is condition. I probably won't bother. I thought I maybe saying something to one of the admins from the group she posted in.

You should definitely let an admin know, or if they have a feedback board set up.

Just curious, did she ask to do the transaction via Friends and Family?

No. She wanted an etransfer. She didn't even have her own Paypal. She had me send the money to her friend's account.

Yes, definitely contact admin. Also, we have a 'bad seller/trader/buyer' list she should probably be added to.
