Hello friends. I desperately need your help. My daughter, Sabrina, will be turning 6 in May. She is autistic. She LOVES MLP. She has moderate communication issues and often cannot answer abstract questions such as what do you want for your birthday? So I asked her recently what she wants, not at all expecting a direct response. Much to my surprise she gave not one, but TWO, answers. She wants the Twilight Sparkle balloon and the Applejack Sweet Apple Barn. I was SOOOOO excited that she gave me answers without promoting or visual aid. It was so great. My problem? Apparently the barn has become something of a collectors item. I can't find one for less than $100 which is crazy since I saw blog posts where people were getting them on amazon for $6 in 2011. I can't afford $100 for a plastic playlet she's going to use lovingly, but will most likely love to death in a year or two. Does anyone have any tips on where I can find one at a more reasonable price? I do NOT want to disappoint her the first time she ever tells me specifically what she wants. I know it sounds stupid, but I've been crying all day trying to figure out what to do. Please help me!!!

I've seen the Applebarn playset quite a few times locally, but I live in South Africa. If you're desperate, I can try getting it to you. But I'd reccomend trying other places in your area or different sellers first, because the postal service here is seriously untrustworthy. For now I'll investigate my international shipping options.

Amazon has one for $84, new, from Germany. If you're willing to buy used there are a couple of incomplete barns kicking around on Ebay that come with other assorted bits and bobs. The first listing looks the most complete but it's still missing some stuff. Flattened apples that stick to the tree, carrots, that sort of thing. I haven't seen the barn locally in ages, unfortunately, but at least it's semi-available. $76 shipped on Ebay for a new one.

It's a cute set but very much a facade instead of a proper set. Honestly I think a more proper barn set or a similar scale would be more useful for actual play. Being practical doesn't make it a better idea, though, it's just an alternative. I think they even make pink ones, these days.

I don't have an extra barn, unfortunately, just an extra of Fluttershy's nursery tree. Good luck, hopefully you find something that will work.

Hello and welcome to the Trading Post :), I wish you luck on finding the Applebarn playset :winkpony:

I think Chainsawbot is right, the Applejack barn is just a thin facade. It won't survive much play. I bought a Fisher Price barn on the cheap and intend to paint it up to resemble the Apple family barn.

It's very roomy, sturdy and has some really nice features, opening/closing doors, a silo, little animal noise buttons (these are on the newer model). You can get them pretty cheap. I think she'd enjoy this just as much. It could be pony-ified just by adding stickers!

(This pic is from an auction on eBay now, but since it's not my auction, I won't leave a link. There's tonnes of them up on ebay right now to choose from.)

I saw one on eBay going for 15.99 opening bid ending Friday you could try that one

Try looking at a thrift store for a barn, any barn will do, do what evilbunnyfoofoo will do, paint it to look like Applejack's barn, and then get an applejack at a toys r us, walmart and other stores. For twilight's balloon, I would do the same thing. BUT, if you happen to find the real thing at a thrift store, get it. Hope your daughter will be happy with her gift!
