Cleaning without removing the ponies head

Hey guys! So I got my new girl, Sweet Blossom. I didn't realize she had a harder plastic, which doesn't really matter, other than the fact that she has tailrust and I want to clean her without attempting to remove her head, because I don't want to damage her. Is there a way to do it without using a blade? To clean it without soaking it, then developing mold without being able to get inside? Make it less noticeable at least. Thanks!

You can try using oxiclean to clean the rust off the visible part of her tail.
But you’ll always have rusting issues if you don’t remove the head and take the washers off the pony and then scrub her tail.

The “easiest” way to remove a stubborn head with harder vinyl and/or glue, is to boil the pony in water and gradually work the head off. This can take a long time and a lot of patience but does eventually work. Just be VERY careful when using this method because you can absolutely burn your skin with the water as it does squirt out of the body and it’ll get’cha lol. (I have some pony battle scars from this.)

Optionally some people have used various tools to help pry the vinyl apart. But the key with hard vinyl is to soften it so it’s more malleable. I’ve also used my heating packs (like a magic bag).

This website is invaluable when restoring ponies.

This doesn't damage them tho? Boiling scares me but I can try it. I hate it when it's these rare ones lol

Nope. If its an inside problem your gonna want to clean it inside, or it'll get worse.

I fear this greatly and have never attempted to remove any heads because I am terrified that I will ruin them.

Another alternative to cleaning the visible rust is whitening toothpaste! It worked on Baby Northstar until her tail popped off (my fault) and was forced to remove her head  Didn’t damage her or discolored her at all either. But yeah, it’s best to clean from inside!
