ROUND EIGHTEEN: Never Have I Ever ...cried when I got a particular pony
Yes, when my husband got me the reproduction Starshine. I vividly remember receiving my original Starshine as a child and how excited I was, delighted with her rainbow hair, pristine white body, heavenly Pegasus pose, and the wonderful smell of new pony!

Oh yes, a thousand times yes! I love all the scents—whiffs from my childhood treasures that conjure memories of excitement when I first opened each one, slightly musty overtones from more recently-acquired G1s, the distinctive scents of newer plastic from the G3s, G4s, and reproduction G1s; even the scent of conditioner in pony hair I have lovingly washed... I love them all!

ROUND TWENTY-NINE: Never Have I Ever ...found a pony in a strange area of the house (and know you didn't put it there)
From My Daughter: I’ve found many blind bag/mini MLPs in strange areas of my house. I found one under the file cabinet, chewed. I found another one under the chaise. How do my cats get into all of my blind bags/minis??? I’ve also found an LPS in a strange area but I don’t think I need to include that.

Oh yes I have definitely found misplaced ponies in odd places. I believe one went missing in a box of plushies for a year or two, and I don't even remember where the other ended up. In a box of personal nostalgic items, I think. I was going to give my extra purple Ember to a friend but it fell off my nightstand into a box under my bed. Found it almost a year later.

ROUND THIRTY: Never Have I Ever ...found a G1 "in the wild" (Meaning at a thrift store, antique store, rummage sale, car boot, etc. Not purchased via a specialty store, online, from another collector, or the like.)

[I would like to add a small apology to all of you for your patience in waiting for this game to continue. I had a very sudden and unexpected death in my family that took me out of the state, causing my very spotty presence on the boards since then. But! I am happy to announce that we are down to the FINAL TEN ROUNDS of this game! Expect to see some point stats and prize information posted soon!]

I am fortunate to have found G1’s in the wilds of thrift stores. Although I do purchase a majority of them from other collectors or people getting rid of childhood collections.

(Also @CJ Thimble Bright, I’m happy to hear your getting back to your normal routine. My condolences to you and your family. <3)

I'm so sorry to hear that @CJ Thimble Bright ; It's totally understandable that you've been absent. :xmashug:(why do we not have a non-seasonal hug emogi?)

Yes, I've acquired some G1s in the wild. We have what is called 'The Worlds Largest Garage Sale' annually on the 1st weekend of October. Wether it really is or not, I have no idea. It used to be really great; lots of little local yard sales with some fair type food trucks mixed in; some bigger junk vendors. Now it's pretty much all vendors; knock off bags, clothes, housewares, antiques dealers.. There are very few good old fashioned yard sales anymore; or you really have to hike through all the back roads/ get out of the main part of town to find them. But some years ago there was a vintage toy seller, who brought a few bins of ponies. They were way overpriced, but I bought a Moondancer who was in really good shape & justified the price. They must not have sold very well, 'cause they never brought them back

I have!! Multiple times. I started my G1 collection by finding Cotton Candy, Powder, Baby Moondancer, and Tumbleweed at the local toy consignment. I only grew my collection by finding second-hand ponies for a bit, the first exception was a Baby Chuck E Cheese.
Who else did I find? Hmm. Parasol, Skydancer, Sky Dancer, February Violet, Pretty Belle, Baby Ribbon, So Soft Angel, So Soft Bangles, Dancing Butterflies, TaF Sundance, Wave Runner, Forget-me-not, lavendar Ribbons n' Lace, Banana Surprise...there's a few more. I've had a lot of nice wild luck over the past few years.

Sorry to hear about that! Take your time you need it. Hope things get better!

I found my rare variation My Pretty Pony from a thrift store. I've also found Forget-Me-Not, Seashell, Peachy, Medley, Windy and Peppermint Crunch from there on a separate occasion too

I found a majestiy and a few other in a yard sale bought some here and there from yard sale

Earlier this year, I found a wild G1! SS Paradise, who was a grail I'd already paid well for in pristine condition. I've also found SS Heartthrob, princess wands, and bushwoolies.

Joining the game way late! whoops! Anyway of my 50 pony herd, only like 10 have NOT come from "the wild" Probably part of the reason it's so small. In the late 90's early 00's I'd often find MLP at our local thrift stores, usually more than one per trip even if my mom only bought me one at a time. And in fact, just last month I found a Goldilocks and Firefly at a thrift store for $1 each!

------
Yes I have it's not often that I find a g1 in the wild but when I do it's like finding gold for me the first time we find g1 in the wild was in 2007 there was a about 29 of them my sister pick the one that I would like out of the pair and then we sold the rest to CJ I got them for my seventh birthday they were my first g1 but than letter sold them off all excited for 3 baby surprise baby Moon dancer and twisty after that years passed and then I got my second found one in the wild a G1 in was 2015 which was tassel I got for $1 at goodwill that was my first g1 I got in a long time I was so happy that day in fact it made me want more g1 then this year I got love n kisses at goodwill for $0.49 I was really excited since she was my first sister pony after that I got a lot of 5 g1 off of Craigslist for $22 I was really happy about that I think that's every g1 that I found in the wild I know I haven't found that many but they're still very precious to me I love them so much

Nope! Hoping to change that but I don't really know where to look locally! Any UK peeps have tips?

PS best wishes @CJ Thimble Bright!

I found a manky Cotton Candy at the swapmeet once. Passed her up because I don't like her.

Ugh... I hate how all the flea markets/rummage sales I go to now are being overtaken by MLM vendors! The last time we went to Steel City Con, I saw a Pink Zebra vendor and an overpriced beef jerky vendor.

In response to the latest question, yes, I have found G1s in the wild. A fair bit of my G1 collection has been built on great flea market and thrift store finds, but the bulk of it has been from Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. It's getting harder and harder to find them cheap at the flea markets or to find ponies I don't already have. I found some last month from the flea market's most notoriously overpriced toy vendor. He wanted $5 each for a marked up Banana Surprise, a Buttons with horn partially missing, a Blossom with a sliced open hoof, and a Princess Misty with some kind of funk in her hair and a chopped tinsel forelock. I offered him $2 each, and he accepted, but he acted like he didn't know they were that bad when I told him how much restoration work I would have to do on them.

CJ, sorry to hear about your loss. :(

Yes, indeed! Or, rather, my husband and daughter have found them, because they are the thrifters. (I’m the restorer.) I think we’re up to at least 30, including Big Brothers and their accessories! My mother found (for me) a Diamond Dreams, Dazzleglow and Nice ‘N Spicy (among others), as well as a Blueberrry Baskets (for my daughter) at Goodwill By The Pound, of all places!
