My WigWam is covered in horrible black marks. What's the best way to get ride of them?

I'm with you on that question!
*eyes the ever-growing herd of marker victims*

I'm curious about the progress in removing marker marks aswell. Ages ago there came that special sponge, which I read that many collectors here achieved great results with - what was the name of the sponge and are they still available? Has anyone found any other great ways to remove marker?

I tried everything and even posted a similar question when I first joined the forum. Unfortunately, nothing worked for me...I tried a bleach pen, goof off, those Mr. Clean sponges that take off marks, soft scrub, acetone...I was trying to remove an initial off the bottom of a foot. Sorry.

Has anybody tried nail polish remover? I've used that to take marker off of lunchboxes, ponies, and a lot of other items and it seems to work fairly good. Just be careful on certain "paint" areas such as eyes and cutie marks.

Lots of luck to ya!

Acetone and nail polish remover are the same thing...acetone is just more concentrated. The marker actually stains the pony like dye. I even soaked the marker and it did not help.

marker

doesn't marker or ink sink into the plastic? i believe that it becomes part of the pony... sad really, kinda like an extra head.
*tink*

There is really no way to get rid of ink, it becomes part of the plastic... theres only ONE thing that works but you have to be careful....

Twin pines removezit. its $10 for a tub of it. BUT PLEASE!!! DO NOT USE IT ON ANY OTHER COLORED PONY OTHER ThAN YELLOW OR WHITE!!! it WILL bleach the color out of any other color pony, and it wont show up right away either!! of course if its a pony you really want to save im sure you could gently re-dye the spots that are bleached out

I had luck with what I think was permanent marker, like a sharpie. I got off the surface ink with nail polish remover, then used the poor-person's remoze-zit (acne creme with benzoyl peroxide.) I can't recall which pony, though, and it may have been a fairly recent mark since I got something off with the acetone.

The benzoyl peroxide method is safe for more colors than just yellow and white. The real colors you have to watch out for bleaching are blue, green, and purple -- just don't do it! Some pinks will also fade. It can also discolor bright, minty white ponies.

And as for re-dye, I managed to repink a bleached spot on a Goldilocks, but it was pretty tedious and could have ended in disaster. Better NOT to bleach it out in the first place.
