I'm really sad to hear that about the flutter ponies. I've been looking forward to them...

Someone posted on a MLP thread on FB that had spoken with the Basic Fun booth asking about Flutters when they would come out. The person at the booth said that, Flutters and Lemon Drop set were canceled. 2nd set of Rainbow Ponies will be hitting stores this August, they also said.
That was me, likely among others. Flutters have been canceled, as well as Lemon Drop and the second Pretty Parlor.

However.....

This was on display at the Fair. ;)

Well I'm kinda disappointed, I was looking forward to those. But honestly, I'm surprised the retro line lasted as long as it has and I'm a little ready for it to wrap up. The sheer amount of retro merch was a little overwhelming. XD I'd like to put my collecting on hold a bit and focus on gearing up for G5.

Kind of a shame on the Flutters, but imo it was kind of expected for the purple PP to be scrapped since Peachy didn’t really sell well.

Aw man, that's a shame about the flutter ponies.

I don't think the line overall will be ending, though. The single packed ponies sell like crazy where I am. The 2nd Parlor being cancelled makes sense, though, because Peachy's parlor is a shelfwarmer.

Hasbro is also suddenly getting in on the retro action (kind of) which IMO means they have noticed the retro ponies taking off. IIRC Basic Fun has the license for producing G1 ponies for three years, and they've been in production for about 1.5 years so far.

Hopefully, it was only that flutter ponies three set that was cancelled. Fingers crossed.

That quite surprise me they cancelled Flutters - I'm sure people would love to buy them, especially because almost every og Flutter nowadays has broken wings. And Parlor 2: Electric boogaloo? It... doesn't quite surprise me as much as the fairy ponies, but it's still sad news.
But! I'm honestly hyped for the new exclusive pony! Maybe another crossover? Or maybe more of ST ponies? *Orrrr maybe THE PONIES WILL BE IN SHOW??* Who knows, I'm so excited!

Suuuuper disappointed about flutters! Was very keen to get some with intact wings :(
I can understand them stopping the line for not selling well, and I can understand it not selling well because kids don't want nostalgia and collectors don't want ponies they already have... but right before flutters is a big shame! Every collector would want one, and the fact they're a pony race that isn't in FiM might catch kids' eyes too. However the fact Hasbro is getting in on the action would seem to contradict the "poor sales" argument.

Have to say I'm disappointed at the announcement of a second target exclusive, too. Target's int'l shipping sucks majorly :/

I'm putting my chips down on Dream Castle for PP2! That's maybe optimistic, but you need a little glass-half-full-ness after bad news like this! I really want Majesty and Spike, and the SDCC Majesty would suggest they have plans to make her!

There is an air about the FB MLP pages right now that it could be possible that the Basic Fun Retro MLP line will be ending soon.

Well this sucks!

But they've been selling like hotcakes, Pretty Parlor aside.

Sad about the Flutter Ponies, but they weren't my favorite so I'll live.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't know where to check these things online, and no store I check regularly has 'em.
Target! Not sure where if you're not in the US tho.

Yeah, it varies more outside the US . . . That said, I just learned that Wigwam Toys in the UK (Brighton) carries them AND ships internationally. I would imagine shipping from UK to mainland Europe would be cheaper than from US to Europe.

£10.99 each.

I messaged them and asked them how the ponies were selling and they said "Extremely well, especially to Sweden and Finland."

I literally just said I was bummed about Target exclusives because I won't be able to get them, silly!

This is sad. The whole "kids won't care for them" doesn't make sense. I LOVED quality, even at as young as 3. I'm so glad I was older when g4 came out. It would of disappointed me.

I didn't see that said anywhere. To kids, these are toys. New toys to them. I gave some to my little cousins and they were well recieved.

No I saw it on Tumblr/other treads. My cousins are 3 and won't touch them, especially since the plastic stinks. I guess it depends on the kids. The early years of FIM maybe, but ones from the past 5 years are already melting

I am not sure about the content of the FB post but... being the one that authored the sign the information is as follows:

- The Purple Playset (the recolored pretty parlor) was not picked up by a retailer. Which in turn means they are not going to be produced at this time (not necessarily scrapped but not being made yet either). That being said, it was implied that they are trying to work on something even more exciting in the near future so keep your eyes peeled! So the main point of the bullet was that something new and exciting is on the way so stay tuned!

-The hesitation for showing the purple playset and the flutter ponies back in Feb. was that no retailer had purchased them yet. This means there was no guarantee they would be made so as to not get people’s hopes up. Unfortunately someone else did end up taking pictures and they made it out there when they were not confirmed.
