What are ATCs?
ATC stands for Artist Trading Card. ATCs are small pieces of original artwork. The only limitation on ATCs is the size: 2.5x3.5 inches or 64x89mm and generally a flat surface (although you can add beads, fold out panels, or pop up elements for 3D effects.)

Can I see some examples?

An excellent primer with visual examples of cards -- not pony specific.

Lev has participated in every ATC swap so far -- if you need to see examples of pony art, this is the place to go!

I've taken pictures of all the cards submitted for swaps I've hosted.

How does a swap work?
~ A thread opens in the artwork forum with the theme, number of cards to prepare, and shipping deadline date.
~ Post in the thread or PM me if you're interested in joining. After a quick feedback check, I'll add you to the participant list.
~ Once signups close, I'll do some mass PMs to the participants with some extra info and my mailing address. (Feel free to work on your cards before that, though!)
~ Make digital backups of your finished cards before you mail. This is unfortunately necessary as some incoming packages have not made it to me.
~ Swap cards are mailed to the organizer for redistribution.
~ If your cards do not arrive by the deadline and you did not make digital backups, I am assuming you are not participating. We won't be waiting for you this swap!
~ All cards that arrive on time will be redistributed and mailed out to the other participants.
~ Late packages will be returned to the participant. Sorry! I'm sure you'll be able to do some private swaps with them, though.
~ The organizer leaves feedback for the participants and makes sure everyone receives their cards.

I'm outside the US/Canada; can I participate?
Given that the shipping deadlines are going to be strictly adhered to, I would NOT recommend overseas mailing unless you can send your cards a few weeks before the shipping deadline and have reliable postal service. I personally have no problem mailing overseas, it's just a bit dicey whether or not you can make the deadlines.

I sent my cards but they must have gotten lost in the mail. What happens now?
This is where the digital backups come in handy. If you have your backups and can send them to me to print out, you can still participate in the swap. Don't worry, I'll let you know if your cards aren't here at the cutoff point so this won't be a surprise.

I'd like to advertise the swap in my sig!
I created some art for you:

Feel free to create your own!

Swap Levels and Participants

Line Art Swap: Rainbow Ponies
Ponies and rainbows go together like peanut butter and jelly. For this swap, make seven cards, each with a different color of the rainbow as the "theme": red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. You can decorate the cards however you'd like. Your seven ponies should be from Hasbro or other free use line art available in the pony community.

Participants: Unlimited. Newbie swappers welcome!
Cards should be received by April 30.

Open Swap: National Postcard Week Swap
Breaking ATC tradition slightly, for this swap, you will be making five postcard-sized cards. The only limitation is that you must include a pony in your postcard design somehow. Your ponies may be either "prefab" line art or drawn from scratch. While you don't have to, a nod to where you live would be a great way to honor the spirit of National Postcard Week.

Minimum size for a postcard is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, maximum size is 4.25 x 6 inches.

Participants: Unlimited. Newbie swappers welcome!
Cards should be received by April 30.

Original Art Swap: The Pony Friends Swap
The ponies love their pets. For this swap, make nine cards that show the ponies playing with their friends -- Snowball, Brandy, Catnip, Twinkles, Duck Soup, and yes, even Spike, the larger friends like Creamsicle, Spunky, Zig Zag, Kingsley, Oakly, Edgar, Cha Cha, and Cuteasaurus, the My Little Puppy, Kitty, and Bunny lines, or the animal friends that were released in the G3 "Seaside Celebration" line (a turtle, monkey, and parrot). Be creative!

Hi, guys! Welcome aboard. :)

To link to the thread with your sig pic, you can grab the thread URL with the "LinkBack" option here at the top of the first post. Then mosey over to your sig area. The way I did it was the highlight the "sigpic" code, then hit the "Insert Link" button. Paste the thread URL in that box and you should be good to go. :D

Ooh oooh me!! I think I'll start with the Rainbow swap first - do we have to use line art or can we draw our own ponies? ^_^ THX!

ok, you talked me into it. i will join in all 3. i know it will be a lot of work to do, but i got the time. just need to make sure i have enough for postage. find a big enough envelope to stick them all in.

any goodies for the early birds this round?

Oh awesome, thanks for PMing me
I'll have to think of what I can handle vs end of semester lol

I knew I missed some critters! I'll add them to the swap description. They are definitely fair game. :)

BBD, I will try to make sure we have some "cookie cards."My last quarter is kind of weirdly intense, but not as bad as last swap where I had weekly tests and essays. Hopefully I can make you guys some nice extras this time. ;)

I want in on this one as well but I must run off for dinner.
I'll send my pm in sometime soon.

So far I want in for the 1st two, not sure on the last one yet. ;)

Please sign me up for the line art and postcards ones. I promise to make back-ups this time! *crosses heart*

Can I create and color my own lineart instead of using stuff on the arena or tp?
