So... We've probably all seen the new concept drawings and heard all the rumors about a generation 5 of mlp. Does anyone know anything concrete? Is there another season of fim in the works? I would hope that a new cartoon might go back to more original body styles. I don't know why, but it seems to me that cartoons are trying do hard these days to be over the top with storylines and fancier animation. I honestly miss our old school poorly animated and often offensive cartoons. As a kid, I wouldn't have known they were offensive unless someone told me.

I'm also interested in the toyline. I'm not cool with the e.g. reboot and don't much care for the g4.5 beyond the baby sea ponies.

Is there anything any of you would like to see? I'd like to see a more realistic horse shape. I miss the curls in the hair as well. Nothing new seems to have any. Just wondering if anyone heard anything new and what they think about it. Personally, I'd love to see a new line of twinkle eye ponies and flutter ponies or wingers.

I would love to see some twinkle eyes again!

Last I’ve heard FiM has one more season and then on to new generation that will come with another movie as a prequel to the new series. Still lots of hearsay about the movie but who knows.

I’m holding out judgements until we get more concrete information about the new generation. I do like the current style of the show (but I’m a cutesie Disney kinda gal). I’d like more G1 style but not long and leggy realistic. But I’ve also read some articles that G5 may be more aimed toward to the teen/preteen audience. But again, who really knows right now.

We just need to sit and wait.

Hasbro's been tight-lipped about it.
Lauren Faust did mention that she has no part in G5, although that isn't a surprise whatsoever.
There was a posting at Boulder (that studio that's been making the EQG shorts as of late) for a new Hasbro CG film way back when, although no further details have been revealed.
I think we would've heard a season 10 of FiM at this point. There was supposedly proof from a writer (?) on the team that made mention of FiM's shelf life (something something Starlight Glimmer something 1.5 years as of a few months ago?) although that tweet has since been deleted and isn't very reliable.
As far as further G5 "leaks" there's been nothing more, the MyLittleRedacted reddit page is very barren.
I'm so psyched for G5 I just want more HOARSE

Whatever style they pick is going to be more simplistic more than likely, to work well with the newer animation programmes now used. When things we hand rendered the movement was much more fluid and lovely, each panel a hand drawn piece of art. Now it's all just stitched together cut outs of various poses and expressions. I find it disappointing. I guess I'm just old and bitter.

I feel the same but I understand why. It’s a heck of a lot cheaper for studios to do things via computers and “cut and paste.” As we all know 1 second of animation (should) be 60 frames which equals 60 individual drawings. So one blink of an eye could be 30-60 individual drawings. That’s the rule of thumb for fluid animation. A lot of new cartoons use 30fps or less, which is sad but it’s cheaper for the studios and they can have significantly less staff on board for these types of things. Again resulting in less money for the studio and big wigs to put out.

Guess I'm old and a bit jaded.

Always down to money, money. Sadly.

I want Hasbro to stop cloning everything

Mane 6 in 800 waves!

A whole bunch of clone poses cause our brains stopped!

And to never go bobble headed Bratz style ever again

Wow, I feel like the Jon Snow of ponyville. I know nothing.

Good thing you ponies keep up with these things and I can read about it here. The G4's are killing me. The same ponies over and over again, snore. However, I do have some pretty interesting versions of Pinkie Pie. Walking and talking Pinkies, crazy eyed and zombie like. I think I've got an army happening.

I'd like to see the chub come back. There's something so endearing about a plump pony.

Come to the Pinkie side, we have cupcakes.
