I have been feeling very crafty and motivated lately! I finally made myself a rehairing tool with a needle and an X-acto handle two days ago, and it was so easy to use. I've managed to complete 2 yarn rehairs (my first ever full rehairs!) and I'm now working on a third with nylon hair and I haven't even needed to change the needle once!

Here's what I've been working on:

My majorly regrind-y Cloud Puff (or Polka-Puff as I've been calling her in my head), who I got for $1 last year at the OK MLP meet, is getting a new pair of wings using the soda bottle method! I did try to put glitter on it after these photos but turned out to be a major mistake because the glue I used just flaked right off >u< Don't know what I was thinking, these bottles aren't very porous so I need to find something else to use so it has traction haha. I might try to just paint the wings and then sprinkle glitter on the paint and seal it and see if that takes better. But gosh, it was so satisfying to press the button and flutter her wings!

I finished my first rehair, and she's a yarn rehair at that! I still need to brush it out and give it that nice fluffy texture, but I seem to have misplaced my brush, so that will have to wait. This little sweetie was a Tara fakie who came to me in a lot with her mane rotted off. Her tail turned to dust when I tried to wash it Dx So I decided to try rehairing her with this lovely yarn I have! It came out beautiful, I am so pleased with her fluffy new 'do <3

And lastly for now, I made another Apple Split custom. This one...oh boy. Everything that could have possibly gone wrong with this boy went wrong. His face paint just...started sloughing off as I was finishing up and getting ready to seal him so I could do his eyes and freckles. I was extra careful with my base coats, but the paint just flaked off! And it took the base coat off with it. So I had to spend a ton of time building the layers back up over the part of his face that didn't have any. When I finally got him finished and dry, I decided to be extra careful with my sealant. I put four coats on him and the paint STILL started to come off. I will never be using this particular brand again. I've never had this problem before.

I used the same color yarn from the Tara fakie since it was a great match for Apple Split's canon hair color. If I could go back and do it again I wouldn't have cut it and tried to style it to be show accurate, but oh well! I guess I can't always be happy with my customs.

I think they look great! I love polka-puff, and Apple split may have caused you troubles, but the end result is very nice! <3

I think your Apple Split came out great. I use a Liquitex acrylics to do my pony customs. It is absolutely more expensive than the average acrylic paint but totally worth it for pony customization. It goes on beautifully and lasts forever if you do multiple thin layers. It bends and moves with the pony as you manipulate it and re-root. I’ve yet to have a pony chip paint at all when using this paint.

She has become one of my favorite herd members haha! I think her spots are quite charming. Ahh thank you <3

I will definitely give that brand a go, thank you for the suggestion! Now that I know how to rehair I want to do a lot more customizing so it would be worth the extra cost if I use it enough <3

Aww that little fakie looks adorable love the poofy hair
I was wondering though, do you keep the top pony with the strange spots on her body separated from the rest of your collection? Cause I have a doll who has something like that and I’m not really sure if I need to quarantine her lol

There's no need! The spots, or 'regrind' as they're known as, aren't contagious, thankfully. It's basically thought to be the result of old vinyl being mixed in with new vinyl to save money during production, and then as time passes, the old vinyl's color begins to separate from the new vinyl's so the old color shows through! It won't spread, so no worries!

I finished another custom today! Technically I had him all painted and sealed yesterday, but I had to take a trip to the store to get some yarn to fit his colors <3

Meet Party Favor, another...sort of background pony? I more consider him to be a minor character. Anyhow, he's a minor character from FiM! If you don't recognize him, he was one of Starlight Glimmer's friends/villagers. I hand-painted him with acrylics, and let me tell you, his cutie mark was stressful to replicate! I was so proud of how it came out on the first flank that I was nervous to do it again on the other, but I think it came out alright. One of the things I learned from Apple Split was to not cut the hair because I regretted it, so I left his long and then styled him some bangs without permanently altering anything. I just looped them, tied them up, and pinned them back to one of his hairplug holes.

I even figured out a way to re-attach his neck with the inner head plug so his head can still turn! <3

I think this is honestly the happiest I've ever been with a custom! I don't think I would've done anything differently, he came together quite nicely.

Oh yay! Thanks, I’ve been keeping her on a separate shelf from everyone else cause I didn’t know what it was and I didn’t want it spreading. I’m glad that she can join the rest now :D
Also you might’ve had trouble painting it, but the cutie mark came out great!

They all look terrific! And the paint jobs are so smooth. You must have a very steady hand.

He looks fantastic! Party Favour is one of my personal favourite MLP:FiM foreground ponies. I just really like that he was one of few (at the time) that they really stepped out of normal mold for non-mane 6 characters.

I don’t know how you managed to do it CM so well. So much tiny details on an already small pony.
