Well, with the 35th anniversary year of the brand about to reach its finale as a new year approaches, I know that the 40th is on the horizon and only 5 years away, but with 50 being a more major milestone, I'm looking ahead 15 years from now and wondering what might lie in store for the franchise. What do you guys think Hasbro has planned for fans and collectors, if the pony brand makes it the next 15 years? Do you think you, personally, will still be on the pony train by that time?

I hope, at the every least, that Hasbro decides to license Bonnie Zacherle's original pony prototypes to finally get made and distributed. This would be a very gracious nod to the creator of pony, herself, and allow us fans and collectors to finally have what had never been produced until then. Though they would lack symbols or "cutie marks", they'd make a fine "collector's edition" of pony for the 50th anniversary that lies ahead.

Additionally, they could re-make and licensed the g1 Japanese-exclusive "Osharena Ponii" that Hasbro originally licensed to Takara, and allow people overseas to collect them, just for the 50th anniversary, while also labeling them as "collector's edition".

On the animation side of things, I hope Hasbro takes a page from Japanese companies and animation brands, like Pokemon, Digimon, Sailor Moon, and Yugioh, giving us fully re-mastered re-do's of the original generation (like Sailor Moon Crystals), a big alternate storyline movie for g1 (like Pokemon Origins), and/or a crossover generation movie (like Yugioh Bonds Beyond Time). I'd love, also, to see animation done for g2, which never got its own animated series, and again, for the Japanese exclusive Osharena Ponii that was limited to Japan and licensed by Takara.

On the fans' side of things, I already have been trying to rally some helping hands...and hooves for my own fanproject.

Casting Call for MLP Creative Fans!

Hi guys! I’m just one of many MLP fandom artists and theorists/ analysts, though perhaps not “horsefamous”, and that’s ok. But who I am isn’t important- what really matters is who you guys are! Are you an artist? Someone who works making SFM animations? Music? Custom plushies, sculpts, or dabble in any other artistic talents? If you are, then you’re in luck!

My mission, as a fan of My Little Pony and all its generations, is to bring a gift to fellow fans across 4 gens who have been on this ride from the beginning, or have only recently joined; who have brought us their own creative gifts by use of their talents, be it fanfiction, customs, animation, or whatever. But first and foremost, I want to create a project that exists as one big “thank you” to the wonderful people who work behind the scenes of the show and toy franchise that has existed for so long- only 35 years so far, but should receive a massive reward if and when it reaches its 50th year milestone. I’m in this for the long haul, and in order to have this project be on the scale that I imagine it to be, I’m not wasting any time!

In order to make this project a reality, I really can’t do this alone. I’m going to need as much help as possible from YOU guys! After all, what fun is an anniversary without others there to celebrate? So, if you have the time and the means, even an idea or two to pitch, then feel free to contact me at mlproject50@mail.com, and let’s get the preparations started!

Sadly, it's pretty unlikely hasbro will ever make real life inspired Ponies as the whole MLP line is basically brightly coloured fantasy equines, but wouldn't it be lovely if yet did? I'd buy tons of little paints and bays and roans! I'd want a toy pony for each of my real life ponies.

it's not like they'r incapable of making ponies with rl color palletes, though. Celestia has a white coat. So does Shining Armor. Granted, they both have more fantasy colored hair....but Hasbro has also made a Troubleshoes and Mayor Mare mini/ blind bag, and they're pretty realistically colored. Zecora, too.

Oh, they're 100% capable of doing it, they just don't seem to understand what the buyers want. They show the same lack of foresight with the Mane Six that they did with G3's Core Seven. We fans want a big variety of all kinds of colours and poses, but they insist on sticking with just a few characters and giving us variations on them. I think so much of this blame can fit solely onto corporate thought that new customers making spontaneous purchases are more important to their bottom line than long time customers like us. They need to pay more attention to loyal buyers and stop paying attention to short term sales.
