Hey everyone! I live close to seattle, as some of you may know, seattle goodwill is the largest goodwill. I would sometimes to go to the store and find random fakies and a few bad g4s for 14.99 I would always wonder why thier werent any g1s but I found out recently, they actually have an ebay acount where they post massive my little pony lot auctions, many times, they have rare ponies. Once they had a rapunzel that went for almost 1,000 dollars! today they have cutasourous and a lot with a fancy mermaid baby and a wigwam plus many more. this acutally happens every week and it makes me even more angry to find out the ceos make tons of money so it isn't even "non profit" , I also wanted to mention on shopgoodwill, they had a lot of 40 ponies and a cabbage patch kid, it only had a mimic and the others were non rare but it went for 900$! to me, it feels like stealing. so pony collectors, please don't bid on seattle goodwill auctions, or any online goodwill listings in general. and donate to a small thrift stores that don't steal your "valuable items" and sell them online for the ceos to pocket a bunch of it. thank you and sorry for reading my rant. does anyone have similar thoughts?

Goodwill is notorious for profiteering. It's always made me angry. Here in Texas people are forced to work there for free as part of their community service for minor criminal offenses, while their CEO makes over a million a year. They're even allowed to legally pay less than minimum wage (the claim is they do this so worker's SSI won't be affected bu they still get the 'pride' of working for living. Taking advantage of the disabled is just criminal). They charge tremendous amounts for items donated to them by well meaning people and rake in big bucks, but don't share that profit with workers, it's appalling.

And this is my biggest peeve with them: They will destroy most books by sending them to paper mills for recycling money instead of even trying to sell them to the public. Books should just be destroyed for profit. It's disgusting beyond belief what they do just to grub in more cash.

thank you for telling me this. it is even worse than I thought!

Good grief. More reasons to hate them. They're also anti LGBTQ. Also, why are people overpaying for these lots anyway.

I think for a lot of people it's a way to get big lots of Ponies they don't have access to anyway. I live out in the middle of nowhere, so my hopes of finding Ponies are pretty nil. I guess they just wanna big box o' colourful equine goodness, and I can't blame them for that.

wow that is terrible I hope you get better pony luck in the future. :/

Thank you! sometimes, I just imagine how many ponies I would have if they didn't sell them on ebay, expecially if I came every day sighhhhh I am hopeful that someday I will find something great locally!

With as much as they charge for shipping, I'm really surprised anyone buys their auctions, honestly. You'd think people in Seattle would take a look at their auctions and realize they shouldn't take their items there.

I totally agree thought I didn't find all of my collection locally. (I knew an acquaintance who did long time ago.) I did find some rare gems from hunting them down at thrift stores, flea markets ect. :)

wow, this is bad. I've been going to Goodwill for many years, and have always wondered why Ive never seen pony toys in them. I've spotted listings in shopgoodwill, and began to get an inkling that whoever donates their ponies to Goodwill, they stash and sell in bulk on their site, which is awful enough. I had no idea about the ebay listings. Absolutely disgusting! Shameful and deplorable! I'm fortunate that I've been able to find past gen ponies at small name thrift stores lately (and Savers, and I really hope they consider setting up shop in an area a bit closer to my home), so needless to say, I wont be looking for ponies anymore at Goodwill, unless it's DVD's

yes! everyone should donate to their local smaller thrift stores!

They actually cross post those auctions, too. They're active on both shopgoodwill.com and eBay. I prefer to give my ponies to a collector than a thrift store. Salvation army is the only place I'll donate here.
