Why buy dog toys?

My dog is positively obsessed with plastic bottles. He'll sit and stare at you then it until you finish. Then he whines if he can't have it! If I didn't have to monitor him so closely with them, I'd never have to buy dog toys again. (Once he breaks or tears the plastic, he's done, and will sulk when I have to take it away.)

My aunts dog was like that but swallowed a bit of plastic. Luckily he passed after a trip to the vet and doggy laxative it was a good size piece. So after that no more bottles for him.

Though he did eat her paycheck once that was a horrible story well for her the dog was fine.

Plastic bottles are a no-no for our dog, but he loves old socks to play with

That's why I have to keep a close eye on him while he has them. No eating plastic. Luckily he learned drop it and leave it well in his training. I just have to be in the same room with him.

My roommate had a jack Russell terrier and he ate a DVD while we were at work. Just, why? A DVD?

My dog is a professional confetti maker LOL He loves to shred paper, tissue paper, newspaper, wrapping paper he will sit there and rip it into tiny pieces. Cheap but messy!!!

I found this funny. Apparently my nephew, who is 8 months old, has the same reaction to plastic bottles as my dog. o_O

I have tried to not give non toy objects to my dog because, I don't want to teach him that things around the house are fair game to play with or tear up. So, I have a little tub of toys that are his and that is all that is his. I have found that in the past when I gave my pug house like toys to play with she tore up so many of my things. The dog trainer said it was my fault by accident as I gave her the impression that anything was a toy. LOL Oh well, I loved my little pug Sophie. She loved yogurt cups, toilet paper rolls, paper, calendars, socks, shoes and all sorts of things. My Chin babies are much better behaved thank goodness. Although, I will have to say Yuki comes close to thinking he can steal my make up brushes right out of my hands the little turkey.:D Any sadly, because I violated this rule I made with my cats....they think all my stuff is theirs. boooooo

My trainer said the same. I was very strict with Wesley. The only thing he's ever tried to nab is my daughter's socks if she leaves them somewhere inappropriate. I have a basket full of his toys and he pulls out which he wants to play with. He'll even put them away. The trouble we've run into is two things; first, he's very destructive with his toys, even Kong and other "made tough" toys, he systematically rips off limbs and takes all the stuffing out, then it's dead and he loses interest. He ate some stuffing once and I was so worried. The second problem is rude neighbors. They threw their trash over the fence and my daughter played with him with the bottle. She's only 7 and never had a dog so she's learning and I can't seem to cover everything. Hopefully we've fixed the problem with the neighbors, but Wes likes bottles already. I try to hit up clearance sales for his other toys so that I get them as low cost as possible. I sew them back together frequently, too.

Overall he really is a good dog. No trash cans, shoes, or other items that dogs are usually attracted to. He doesn't dig or scratch at fences and only barks when it's important.

I filled a stocking for him for Christmas and by the end of the day he had devoured one heavy duty chewing treat and deconstructed four new toys!

Haha what a funny dog^^

My dog only loved to tear stuffed animals. After he had successfully teared all the insides he wasn't interested in them. I used to buy old stuffed toys to him from thrift stores..

I thought about thrift stores, but he can't have anything with plastic bits.

Don't worry, due to my health issues I am not really feeling up to getting Yuki out to meet other dogs. Well as important as that is...I can't do it at all. I just can't. I can barely get up in the morning. So, sometimes you have to fudge. Yuki and I will have some sort of understanding in spite of everything I can't get done exactly to the book standard lol.

My dog has the weirdest taste in toys. He likes stuffed toys he can toss around, but he is scared of squeaky toys. He's also not a huge fan of tennis balls.

I usually just go to Goodwill and get big stuffed toys from the toy bin for him. :)

Foxy Lady has a squeaky bone and fuzzy puppy doll toy.
She just likes to pull them out and show them off to my parents dogs like" ha ha this is mine you can't have it" she also steals my dads dogs balls. She does not play with it just hides it in her bed.
