It's that time of year again!

You all know how much I love to cook and I'm always on the hunt for new yummy recipes to try. Several years ago I thought, wouldn't it be cool to have a recipe box/book with shared recipes from members from here and thus, Gingerbread's recipe exchange was born.

So are you ready to sign up!

Here's how it goes:

~ Everyone who signed up would be responsible for doing at least 2 recipes, 1 appetizer, side or entree and 1 dessert. You can do more if you like but you must do at least these two. You will have to send your 2 recipes to all the other members who participate. Just keep in mind if we have 10 participants that'll be 20 recipe cards you have to do. *But it'll be worth it when you get all your lovely cards!

~ Recipes must be done on recipe cards or recipe card sized paper. For example if you wanted to do yours on the computer that'd be ok as long as you cut them to card size, 4x6 seems to be the standard.

~ I encourage people to embellish their recipe cards, maybe with stickers, pictures, bust out those glitter pens, we like pretty pony recipe cards! Do whatever you like to make your cards as unique and wonderful as you!

~ When you title your recipe put your member name on it. For example I could call mine; "Gingerbread's Italian Creme Cake", that way everyone would remember which cards came from who.

I made a pony themed binder for my cards. But a card box would be a cute idea too. It's not required but I think it'd be fun for everybody to post a picture of their pony recipe box/book when they're done. It'd be like having a useful scrapbook of all your pony friends.

Here's a pic of mine...

Important Dates!!

Sign-ups will be until Sat., March 14th

You will receive participant's addresses by March 15th

Cards will need to be mailed out no later than April 4th! If for any reason your cards will be late coming out please PM me so at least I know and don't think you've fallen out.

If you are interested in joining PM me your address by the sign-up deadline. Requirements are that you must have been a member here for at least 3 months or have accumulated some positive feedback for me to consider. This is a good opportunity for some newer members who haven't accumulated any feedback yet to have a chance to earn some for future swaps and trades. If you have any questions about being eligible to participate feel free to message me.

Also, please let me know if you have any particular allergies to certain foods. It's not required that all participants recipes take these into account but it would be the nice pony-thing to do. Please at least include some of your recipes that all participants could use. I will note next to each person's name any allergies.

I look forward to seeing everyone's cards! The ones we exchanged in previous swaps were lovely and I can't wait to do this again.

Oh thank goodness we can type up our recipes! My handwriting is some of the worst in the universe. It's been mistaken for Akkadian cuneiform it's so bad!

I have a question, do you just give everyone the same two recipes or do you have to send different recipes to each person?

Edit: Duh I can see the answer to my question in the first line. Good grief I wonder about myself sometimes. LOL Sorry. Nevermind...

Mmm, I'm getting hungry just thinking about what recipes to send LOL

I have my eye on a couple that dh is going to make again and see if they are tasty enough like they are written. He loves to cook and its a good excuse to stick him in the kitchen.

Don't worry, tula! Whatever it is you have, i have it as well. Too much stress has our brains muddled! :lolpony:

At least we can still walk and chew gum! I think...

*trip*

Dang it.

@evilbunnyfoofoo
Ummm I fell over this morning trying to put a sock on. An entire night with no sleep with stress combined has made me a lalaloopsy oopsy. My brain is so fried from everything going on. My hope is I dont accidentally send a recipe on how to make a bologna sandwich. Meh

@Gingerbread where are you getting the plastic sleeves for a binder that works for recipes? I may make a box.

I'd maybe like to participate (hopefully an envelope would be easier to get through than a package). But do we have to somehow make the recipe itself pony-themed, or can we just write out a recipe and then decorate the cards all pony-like?

The recipe itself doesn't need to be pony themed, just a regular recipe. Most people usually decorate the recipe cards with pony stickers or stuff but really it's just the idea that they came from your pony friends that make it special.

That seems unnecessarily complicated for making a grilled cheese sandwich.

btw stupid question. What that would be in centimeters? Is that measurement in inches right now? :D

Excellent question!! I believe with the conversion it would be 10.16cm x 15.24cm. If I got that wrong everyone is allowed to throw ponies at me as long as you let me keep them. LOL In the USA we still use inches.

I am excited about doing this. I need something to take my mind off of things. I am having fun letting my creative mind flow from one place to the other.

Hey I was just wondering are we supposed to take photos or scan our recipes when we get them? Or just let everyone know we got them. This is kind of a different swap and I am curious how things are supposed to go.

You can post when you get your recipes if you like but you don't have to take photos. If someone hasn't received their cards after an appropriate amount of time LMK and I will look into it. Since we had a small group, I'm not being as strict on "you must message me every time anything happens". I figured I'd just keep an eye on it and after the deadline comes and goes check in with everyone.
