Disney VHS a Trend?

Not to totally derail the topic, and I might be misunderstanding what you mean, but the Wizard of Oz rumor is false (it was a large bird in the background), and the one about the Rescuers is actually true.

The women who played Dorothy has gone on record saying the rumor is true. The bird in the background "answer" is simply another version of the tale. In the end, the whole thing is probably false and the shadow is just a shadow of something off screen. However, it is the only rumor of those I mentioned that was said to be true by a few people on the movie (the other people involved I can no longer remember). That's all I meant. : ) Either way, the silly rumor makes the VHS version of the film sought after.
There's actually a documentary about it somewhere..which is how I found out about it.

One thing I loved about DVDs was the language options and the extras, that you couldn't put in a VHS. As soon as Blu-Rays started flooding the market, DVDs were packaged with only the bare essentials (original version, dubbed version, random single extra and a featurette telling you what a backwards moron you are for not having bought a Blu-Ray). Like they wanted to make the consumers believe that DVDs became worse and are now obsolete. What does Blu-ray have that DVDs don't? Better resolution. That's it.

Back on topic, I have to agree with this. I'm still in the belief blu-rays will die off and I refuse to buy into them. There's really just no point. Sony can try to push it on me all they want with their Blu-ray playing consoles, it's just not happening lol. My DVDs, and VHS movies take care of the job.

We couldn't even sell most of our old Disney VHS at our last garage sale for .25 each. We ended up giving most of them away free at the end to just get rid of them because we didn't want them back and the rest went to the curb with a free pile ad on the Craigslist.

I have the original Little Mermaid clamshell VHS, and I still can't see the "thing" (at least easily) there that everyone claims is there. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like people are making that up! I mean, really, do people go out of their way to look for things that are wrong? Sort of like the preacher in that movie- it's just his knee!

I believe a lot of them are made up by people with nothing better to do than to prove disney has a secret agenda. ^^; That being said, I found the particular tower on my own copy. One just has to look quite hard at your case & the photos on the Internet. It took me awhile.
The one about the priest is simply ridiculous though lol, I can't imagine who was staring at that scene so hard that they found it.
The naked women however, is absolutely true. It is very much in that film.

The only ones I've kept on VHS are ones I haven't got on DVD or bluray. I will never part with my The Little Mermaid clamshell with the naughty cover and it's my favorite movie. I also have my DuckTales Treasure of the Lost Lamp because I do not have that on DVD. GoodWill is loaded with Disney VHS. I dumped off three boxes of VHS there. If I had it on DVD or Bluray then I got rid of it. Our basement was so full of stuff that I had to start selling or getting rid of things, things that I hadn't used or looked at in a few years.

At least with discs they have more life in them. I love Disney or animated movies, just like that they take up less space and look great on my TV now.
